Independent film company Breakthru Films and Pillarstone Productions  are currently developing a new movie  based on the ancient Irish epic An Táin:
HOUND: The Legend of Cúchulainn.

According to the Breakthru Films website (http://www.breakthrufilms.co.uk/)  the film company "are creating a multi-platform global franchise based on the extraordinary legend of Cuchulainn and his world."
After talking to Tamsin Lyons, a member of the movie production team, who joined me on a guided walk of the Cooley Mountains last summer, I have high hopes that the integrity of the story will be maintained in what promises to be a big budget blend of CGI and Live Action to rival recent blockbusters 300 and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The production of such a film is, in my opinion, long overdue. The Táin has all the elements required to make a great movie - the life of Cúchulainn certainly had its fair share of drama, action, violence and  more violence.
The beauty in recreating the story of the Táin is that the tale itself has been constantly moulded and remoulded to suit the various audiences that have enjoyed the story over the last 1,500 years or more and one more retelling will certainly do no harm. With Barry Devlin, the former front man of The Horslips, writing the script there is little chance that the tale will lose any of its vigour or authenticity.
